Seniors Go Out WInners over New Bern

The night started with a ceremony honoring our eleven seniors in their last regular season home match. Their families and friends made it very special for them last night. With several of the seniors playing in "new" positions, we were able to come out and dominate in the first half with four goals. Robert Clark started us off with a goal from about 40 yards out. This occurred just over seven minutes into the match. New Bern responded with a goal of their own just a couple of minutes later. Stanley Broaden scored 2 goals on assists from Chris Dew and George Dimopoulos to put the Eagles up by two. Justin Wain scored off of a George Dimopoulos corner to extend the lead to three. That was the end of the scoring for the Eagles but the Bears still had some to come. Early in the second half the Bears were awarded a penalty kick which they were able to make to bring them within two goals. With about 3 minutes left in the game the Bears scored again to make the final score Ashley 4 New Bern 3. This puts the Eagles in a tie for second place in the conference with games left with 1st place New Hanover and tied for second place Hoggard next week.
